As far as I have been able to ascertain the Macaulays were not involved with the glassworks. However, they were involved with getting Dixon elected as Provost of Dumbarton. If one is interested in the Dixon family a good place to start would be at the following website:http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=DESC&db=epee&id=I0163 Also, much information can be found doing a google book search. It should also be noted that John Macaulay, Town Clerk, left male heirs who had children. We know that the male line of this family was still extant up and into the 1860s. Questions that remain to be answered: 1. Was John of the Ardincaple family? 2. If yes, how was he related to the Chiefly line? Members of this family include the following: 1. James Macaulay, tax collector, in Aberdeen; m. Jane Collie and had, 2. Margaret Landal Macaulay, b. 1857 2. Alice Jane Oliphant Macaulay, b. 1859 2. John Drummond Macaulay, b. 1860 2. Georgina Macaulay, b. 1862 2. Flora Alexandra Macaulay, b. 1864 2. James Oliphant Macaulay, b. 1866 2. Ronald Macaulay, b. 1867 0. William Macaulay, uncle of the above named tax collector; b. 1782; customs officer and later of Troon; m. Janet McKie and had, 1. Isabella Macaulay 1. Christian Macaulay 1. Janet Macaulay, b. 1818 1. Louisa Macaulay (1827-1877) 1. Catherine Macaulay 1. Elizabeth Macaulay Notify Administrator about this message?
