MacCALLUM - Elizabeth (Beth) passed away on January 15, 2008, at the age of 95. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Sheila (John), Elsa (Don), Peter (Irene) and Robert (Nikki), her 8 grandchildren, Jordan (Kerri) and Liam (Melinda), Byron (Yael) and Cameron (Candace), Sophie (Jacob), Natalie and Therese, and by Donald, as well as 4 great-grandchildren: Julian, Mackenzie, Maya and Tahlia. Predeceased by her beloved husband Don, and her much-loved older sister, Marj, and younger brother Mac, Beth leaves behind brother Arch and sisters Elsie and Flora, as well as a large extended family and many dear friends. Beth's innate sense of style made her a natural in the clothing business. In 1947 she married Donald MacCallum and moved to his hometown of Agassiz, where they opened MacCallums' Clothing Store. Very involved in the arts community of Agassiz-Harrison, Beth will always be remembered for her love of all things natural and artistic: arrangements of wild flowers, bird-watching, walks in the woods, enjoyment of books, and her encouragement of the creative spirit. In spite of severe deafness in later years, Beth loved to communicate, welcoming any chance to chat to relatives, friends, and passers-by. She was unfailingly gracious to all visitors and residents at Peace Portal Lodge in White Rock, where the staff loved her for her kind and gentle nature. Because Beth lost her beloved husband, Don, to cancer, the family has created a memorial for Beth at the BC Cancer Foundation website (In Celebration) at www.bccancerfoundation and invites you to visit and sign the guest book. Beth's Memorial Gathering will be held in May.
