Looking for information on British Independent Company’s stationed at York Co., South Carolina. One such company was under the command of Captain James Mackay in 1754. This was a regular British Army unit, made up of Scotish Highlanders. Who came to the Americas with their families.

He was ordered north to Fort Necessity, PA., with about 100 troops, to reinforce Col. George Washington.

Pvt. Daniel McClaren was killed in action on 3 July 1754 at Fort Necessity, in one of the first battles of the French and Indian War (Seven Years War).
