If William Oliver and Isabella MacKay were following the Scottish naming system then Isabella's father ought to be a Kenneth MacKay and William's father is almost certainly a Robert Oliver. A Kenneth MacKay married an Anne MacDonald, They had a daughter Isabel christened 21 April 1805 and a son Hugh C 16 May 1808 Lairg, Sutherland. William and Isabella had a daughter Hughann. Seems a likely connection.
A William Oliver was born 30 Jan 1813 at Castleton, Roxburghshire father Robert Oliver mother Mary Douglas, from parish records.
William was probably a shepherd. Many shepherds from Roxburghshire went to the far north in the early/middle 1800s.
