Sister Mackey, O.P. Obit
ADRIAN — Sister Marion Therese Mackey, formerly known as Mary Ann Mackey, died Jan. 10, 2008, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich. She was 82 years of age and in the 65th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sister Marion Therese was born in Detroit, Mich., to Francis and Anna (Normandy) Mackey. Sister graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian, Mich., and received a Bachelor of Philosophy Degree in History and a Master of Education Degree in Education from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian.
Sister spent 27 years ministering in education in St. Clair, Lansing, Alpena, Romeo, Mason, Ypsilanti and Northville, Mich.; Chicago, Ill., and Cleveland, Ohio. She was Principal at Our Lady of Victory in Northville for four years. Sister ministered as a nurse for 15 years in Michigan, Illinois and Ohio, including Maria Health Care Center in Adrian and Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette. From 1987 to 2001 she was a Parish Minister at St. Cyril Parish in Taylor, Mich. In 2001 Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian.
Sister Marion Therese is survived by a sister, Mrs. Theresa Pariseau of Lakeland, Fla.
Visitation is from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, in the Gathering Space of St. Catherine Chapel at the Dominican Life Center, followed by Vigil Prayer at 7 p.m. in St. Catherine Chapel. The Funeral Liturgy will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2008. Burial will be in the Congregation cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
