I'm looking for the parents of an ancestor of mine:
William Mackey
- Born in Sumner County, TN around 1844.
- According to most census, his father was born in Tennessee and mother in Virginia.
- Enlisted in Company F, 40th Illinois Infantry in 1861.
- Reenlisted on 15 Mar 1864.
- Married Margaret A. Minton on 19 Jun 1862.
- Lived in Franklin/Hamilton counties, Illinois after the war for the rest of his life.
- Possible middle initial of "J" per the 1870 census.
- Offspring included:
- Millard H. Mackey (my ancestor)
- Mary Isabell Mackey
- James L. Mackey
- Cora (or Ora C.) Mackey
- Sidney D. Mackey
- Stella Mackey
- William Mackey died 23 Jul 1900.
There's much that I know but what I don't know is driving me nuts. I haven't been able to determine who his mother and father were in Tennessee. I can't trace the family back any further until I figure this out.
