I am looking for information about a William MCNEE (perhaps other spelling) born abt 1716 in Scotland. He changed his surname to MAGNAY (other spellings found incl MAGNEY, MAGNA, MACKNA) after Battle of Culloden abt 1745. As William MACKNA he married in 1736 to Mary SMITH at Haltwhistle, Northumberland, England. They had chn incl John, Thomas, William. Son William MCNEE/MAGNAY born abt 1743 married Hannah HOLMES/HOLME of Hullerbank, Cumberland, England. Their son William chr 1792 Hayton By Brampton, Cumberland, England married in 1823 to Anne JEFFERSON at Sebergham, Cumberland, England.
