Hello Cousin!

The James Manning that was married to Allie Atchley was the brother of my Grandpa Manning (Andrew Jackson Manning). I show they had a child, Dorotha, and the marriage date you mentioned, Dec 28 1918. He died in 1972 at age 71. He was 8 years younger than my grandpa. I haven't heard anything about this murder but not sure my family would talk about it even if it were true ;)

My records look like James Arthur Manning was born and married in Lawrence Co. Arkansas. He was also married to a Pearl Hunt. I have a schematic thingy of the Manning Cemetery #1 and I dont see her name (Allie's) on it. I also just looked in my Arkansas Death Records Index 1934 - 1940 and don't see an Allie. The 1914 - 1923 version of the same has no A name but a couple without a first name or initial that died in Lawrence Co AR in June 1918 (which I believe to be my great grandmother and a child).

Could Allie be a nickname? There was an Amanda that died in Lawrence County, where the Manning family was from at the time, and she died 26 Sep 1937.

There is a Pine Bluff in Arkansas. It's down in southeast on the Arkansas River. I was there in March & May.I am not familiar with a Popular Bluff in Arkansas either, just Missouri.
