Followup #2 Horace moved his family to Waterford, Washington County, OH, in about 1814-16. His migration from Luzerne County, PA, to Washington County, OH, has been documented by not only censuses, but various land sales & purchases. On the 1820 census in Waterford, in Horace's household were one male under 10 (name unknown), two males 10-under 16 (names unknown), one male 26-under 45 (Horace), one female under 10 (name unknown), three females 10-under 16 (Hannah, Harriet, Serepta), one female 16-under 26 (Artimacy), & one female 26-under 45 (Patty). Artymesa, daughter of Horace, was born on March 6, 1801, in Huntington Township, Luzerne County, IN, whis is definately a clew that her mother was NOT born in "1811". So what census information do you have on your Horace Preston and his wife, Permillia? Did they live in Luzerne County, PA, and Washington County, OH? Yes, I agree, the Mattice family may have lived in Blenheim, NY, before they came to Luzerne County, PA. Do you show death dates for Horace and Permillia Preston? Yes, I too have seen census "marks" which appear to be in the wrong male or female column 10 years later or 10 years earlier. It must have been quite a mess back then with the Germans & the English in Pennsylvania! Did the census taker speak both languages? More later, MaryLu Notify Administrator about this message?
