Joseph Macauley, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Macauley, b. 5 Dec 1828 in County Down, Ireland; came to America about age 20; m. Ann Reid 1857; d. 12 May 1900; buried at Brooks Cemetery, Will County, Illinois. He settled in rural Lemont, Cook Co., Illinois in 1853. Nine children reached maturity: William Thomas; Elizabeth; Maragret A.; Susan; Julia; Charlotte; Joseph; Alice; John Reid. Cnal boat captain and dairy farmer.
