McCabe's from Naperville, Ill
Posted by: Don McCabe Date: April 28, 2000 at 15:56:57
  of 2648

Thomas McCabe and his sister Kate and an unknown brother came to America after their father was killed by a runaway horse in Ireland sometime between 1835 & 1850. They settled in Chicago, and Thomas married a Mary
Malloy, who died in 1859. Tom remarried and
left for California and was never heard from again, except for some rumors about South America. So, if any of you McCabes in Ireland know of one of yours gettin killed by a runaway horse around 160 years ago, this to let you know the fortunes of the family have changed for the better. The six sons of Ben McCabe of Naperville, Il., all saw action in WWII and all came home without a scratch. They're all retired now, just a sittin and a spittin, and waiting to be rediscovered by their Irish relatives.
by their Irish relations.
