McCarter Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Anna,
Sorry, I meant to say James, not John. I had purged the McCarter name from my file as I rather think it could be Polly M. Carter, the way it is written on the marriage license. I have a copy of it from the Archives in Knox County. I searched yesterday and there were several trees with James born in 1825 tied to our Polly as her father. Heck, our Polly was born in 1790 - James was born in 1825. Sometimes when we are searching and want to find so bad, we are blind to the obvious facts. So, we are still searching, hoping someone out there will know.
Bye-the-way, Ancestry has the indexed page of the Marriage Bonds and the back cover of he folded Bond images on line. In one of these it is written Polly M Carter, so someone else thinks it could be a Carter and not a McCarter. There were Carters marrying there at that time, sooooo!
