James M. Kilby

Dec. 10, 1915-Aug. 31, 2003

HANNIBAL - James M. Kilby, 87, of Hannibal, died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev. Mark Albee will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the funeral home.

Mr. Kilby was born Dec. 10, 1915, in Estes to John and Artie McGee Kilby.

He was married to Wanda Lease on Aug. 8, 1942, in Hannibal. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Bill Kilby and wife, Sharon, of Hannibal, Mark Kilby and wife, Marilyn, of Lowell, Ark., Tim Kilby and wife, Jill, of Jackson, Tenn., and Mark Kilby and wife, Rose Ann, of Hannibal; 13 grandchildren, Eric Kilby, Justin Kilby and Brandi Kilby, all of Hannibal (and their mother, Cyndi Kilby), Jim Rabbins of Las Vegas, Cindy Cieslak of Algonquin, Ill., Laura Wagner of Hannibal, Janeen Wallace of Quincy, Ill., Crystal Hadon of Jacksonville, N.C., Tamara Graham of Jackson, Tenn., Scott Kilby of Jackson, Tenn., Tara Kilby of Nashville, and Brian Kilby and Cassandra Dobbins, both of Rodgers, Ark.; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and two brothers.

Mr. Kilby was retired after 32 years with the Burlington-Northern Railroad. After retiring, he served on the Hannibal City Council for seven years. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mr. Kilby was a faithful, loving husband and father. We grieve that he died, but we rejoice that he lived.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Mid-Missouri Chapter.

Pallbearers will be Eric Kilby, Justin Kilby, Scott Kilby, Keith Glascock, Bill Glascock and Brian Gottman.

Note: Artie McGee is the daughter of John McGee and Sarah Catherine Smith of Busch, Pike Co, Missouri.
