Hi Eleanor,
I couldn't find your email address in my address book so I looked in GenForum.
I found more information about Patrick Dempsey and Elizabeth McGough.
I found Elizabeth was born about 1767. She was living with her daughter, Mary Dempsey Buchanan, in Huntington Co., Indiana in 1850. Her age is given as 83 and her birthplace is Maryland. This is the first time I have found her on the census. Her daughter, Mary, was also listed as born in Maryland. Elizabeth's daughter, Rose, was living in Huntington Co., Indiana also. She gave her birthplace as Maryland.
I don't think it is a coincidence that there is a Huntington Co., in Indiana and one in Pennsylvania. I think it is part of a migration. Elizabeth McGough Dempsey's daughter, Elizabeth married John Dimond who was born in Huntington Co., in an area that is now part of Cambria Co.
All of Patrick and Elizabeth's children were probably born in Maryland as patrick doesn't show up in the PA census until 1820. There were 10 children and I have found birthdates for some of them. They are Elizabeth, Esther, James, Patrick, Catherine, Sarah, Rose, Mary, William, and John.
Anyway, I thought you might find this information interesting.
