My grandfather was born about 1841, in an area near (or in) Castlebar, Mayo Ireland. The name of his parents were Patrick McGough and Ann Ronan.
I found records (via internet) for a Patrick McGough born (abt 1841) to John McGough and Ann Ronane. Since we have records that indicate that a Patrick McGough and Ann Ronane gave birth to other children in 1842 to 1849, I believe either:
-- The record had a transcript error or
-- John McGough died and Ann married Patrick McGough.
I wish I could look at the handwritten records, but have no way to do that.
