John D. McKay

I have been searching for the parents of John D. McKay, born in Mississippi in about 1823. The 1850 Smith County Mississippi census has John, Eliza, George & Francis. The 1860 Smith County Mississippi census has J.D., Eliza A., Geo. W., Francis M., Elizabeth J., Alexander & Matilda J.

I believe his father to be Daniel McKay. Daniel is also listed on the 1850 Smith County census with wife Jane & son Daniel.

I have not be able to find proof that Daniel is John's father.

I did find Eliza McKay on an 1866 Mississippi State census for Smith County. An 1870 Texas census has F.M. McKay E.A., Alex., E.J., A.C.
The 1880 Arizona census has F.M McKay listed and 1880 Texas census has A.C. McKay listed. No sign of Eliza A., the girls or Alex. Of course Eliza A. could have remarried & I assumed the girls married.

Does anyone have anything on the parents of John A. McKay or any suggestions on where to look?

Thanks,
Mary
