Hi, Paul, I just ran across a helpful letter you wrote; don't know how I missed it.
You were telling me Mary Peebles was not Thomas decd.daughter, but sister. I knew this, but, as I am doing now, I didn't hunt up my facts, which takes hours. I am trying to "clean house" right now, but doubt I get it done.
I was confuse, I think, because I believe it was Robt. and Susana or Hiram Sinclairs, had a daughter who also mard. a Peebles. About that time I learned, for the first and only time, that John the founder, had been mard. before, and had 2 children. She was a Goban, w/a brother, and there are deeds to prove it.
When she died, John bought his wifes family home and gave it to one of his daughters.
This is why I am no further than I am on my immediate family--I try to acculate all I can on the family of David. Just nosey, I guess, but it has become my hobby in my "ole age". I have given up that I am a direct descendant as my grandad's family thought.
I fear this letter is coming out way to wide to read. If so, tell me and I'll do it again, as I hate when this happens. Don't know why.
My real aim is to find the father of
Samuel McKee, d. 1780, leaving 6 minors, Orphans Court, Hannahstown. In all of our court papers, the petitioner are David and James or Robert. At that time, I
believe Allegheny was a part of Westmor. I think these were bros. of my Saml.
A McKee researcher says my Saml. is son of Capt.Robert McKee, and they were all neighbors in Hempfield Twp., Westmorland, Pa. They all got their land in return for defending the town from indians. At the same time, there is proof the two men, my Saml. a Sgt., were bros. and rode with Washington.
Samls. widow, Margaret, remard. a John Veasy, and kept
their farm til 1814 (25 yrs.) and there was a partition. The buyers were Saml., Jr. and a John McKee-no heir. I have receipts of two of Samls other heirs, saying they rec'd their money, and I have
the land description.
The fly in the ointment is: Robert McKee, wife Elizabeth, died testate, the same year, and left his land to his sons, SAML and JOHN. The names of his kids are exactly the same as Samls (both named 1st sons David). But there are two extra kids, one girl, Ann. He says the girls can remain in home until they are mard. Samls girl are marrd.
This lady sayd the names of the spouses are the same marrd. names as Saml's heirs. An Ann, single, later buys one of the farms, but the description sounds wrong.
My Samls. family inter-mard. with Veasys, Pierces, McConnels, leading to my direct family.
Do I have enough to discount the family of Robert as Samls. father?
