The following Wm MacKey/Wm Macky/Mackie are all the same person and same family and Robert McKee / McKie of Rowan/Iredell/Davidson is the brother mentioned in the second paragraph:

Chn to be be with their mother during her widowhood if she acquises, or at the pleasure of my Exors who if they see cause to remove them, are to be sent to my brother ROBT MACKIE an continue under his care until they become of age..................Wm MACKY /S/

22 Jan 1756: On motion of John BRAVERD (sic) it is ordered that he be appt'd guardian of David, Mary, William and Margaret, orphans of Wm Mackey, dec'd giving security according to law, whereon the sd John BREVARD, Alex OSBURN (sic), and John DUNN entered into the Penalty of 300 pounds & c. Wm. MACKIE (sic) 22 JULY 1757: WHEREAS GEORGE CATHEY sold to WM MACKIE a tract of land on MARLINS CREEK at the UPPER GREAT FORK of said creek and a certain JAMES MCMANUS claims the same. It is thought expedient that the said GEO CATHEY should make a deed of another tract of land to the ORPHANS OF SAID WM MAKEE (sic) and that the said tract of land shall be viewed and valued by JOHN BREVARD, ESQ and ROBERT LUCKEY (sic) guardians to said orphans. ALEX. OSBORN , ESQ to return the same to next court and their agreement thereto &c.

22 Oct 1757: Order of the Court made last Court constituting and appointing ALEX OSBOURN, ALEX CATHEY, ROBERT LUCKEY AND JOHN BREVARD ESQ to view and value a certain piece of land that GEO CATHEY JR sold to WM MCKEE (sic) dec'd which has since been recovered by law by JAMES MCMANUS and likewise to view and value another certain piece of land belonging to GEO CATHEY lying on the SOUTH SIDE OF THE CATAWBA RV and judge the difference between the two. In pursurance thereof the difference in value of land is 20 pounds which sum the said GEO CATHEY is to pay to the ORPHANS of said WM MCKEE, DEC'D. (MCCUBBIN COLLECTION)
