I AM POSTING COPIES OF INQUIRES THAT I HAVE RECEIVED BACK FROM IRELAND AND PENNSYLVANIA ON SIR JOHN MCKIM AND ALEXANDER AND THOMAS MCKIM FROM LOUDOUN VA AND DELAWARE THE SONS OF JOHN MCKIM. PLEASE READ AS I THINK ALL WILL FIND THIS VERY INTERESTING. CAROLYN Dear Ms. Gutermuth: The Passenger and Immigration Lists Index drew from a variety of sources, many of which were not true passenger lists. You will need to check that publication to determine the specific source of information regarding Thomas McKim. Unfortunately, we do not have access to all of the volumes, so we cannot tell you to which source the number 7204 applies. Certainly, records other than the passenger lists in our custody will document arrivals in colonial America. Articles, newspapers, personal letters, certain shipping records, etc. all mentioned the names of people arriving in the colonies. For the Scots Irish, however, very few, if any, actual ships’ passenger lists exist. Study the bibliography of Passenger and Immigration Lists Index to learn about many available immigration resources. Feel free to contact us again if you have further questions about our holdings. Sincerely, Jonathan R. Stayer, Head Reference Section Pennsylvania State Archives 350 North Street Harrisburg, PA 17120-0090 (717) 783-2669 jstayer@state.pa.us Notify Administrator about this message?
