This is so exciting! I am a McMitchell too! We have a very small family that I know originated from Ireland. The lineage is slowly depleting as my brother and one cousin are the only hope for carrying on the name. We live in Calgary Alberta Canada. I think the origin was from the West Coast, mainly British Colombia - as the story goes.
My Uncle and my cousing toured Ireland last year in hopes of locating relatives but didn't really come up with anything. They believed they were in a town that had some heritage to them but have no clear evidence of that. It would be great to hear more from you. Thanks for your interest in the family.
