Looking for information on my great-grandfather George Meikle, born Selkirk, Selkirkshire, Scotland on June 6, 1858 to William Meikle (b. 1812) & Catherine Smith (b. 1815). He apprenticed as a carpenter, emigrated to Frankfurt, NY, and moved with the Buffalo & Susquehanna Railroad to Galeton, PA.
On May 19, 1886 he married Elizabeth Little, born Hawick, Roxburgh, Scotland on July 12, 1867 to shepard George Charles Little (b. 1830) & Wilhelmina Brown (b. 1836). Together they had eight children, the last of whom, Aunt Catherine, passed on this May 2, 2004.
We're close to many of my second cousins, but know little of our roots in Scotland (other than the Lusitania connection). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
