Shirley.. I've just returned from my fathers and he gave me the Mellefont family bible started by Jennet Mellafont July 13th 1858. Even in this bible the Mellefont name is spelled two ways... Mellefont and Mellafont...with Mellafont being the most common.
Also the John I thought was my ggrandfather is not but he is a relative but I haven't figured it out yet. My ggrandfather was Walter married to Mariah.
My father also told me some of his family lived in Prescott and the name Eliza Jane rung bell for him but he has been ill and his memory isn't the best at the moment. There are names in this bible... not many but a few and also some keep sakes.. a lock of hair, a dried flower, peice of fabric. I'm excited! Let me know if you want to know all the names........
