I am the great grandaughter of Matthew Meloury born 1875 near Colac Vic. He was the grandson of your Matthew Meloury born abt 1820. His mother and father where William Meloury born 1845 in Sydney and Emma Batchelor born 1851 in Colac.
It is my understanding that the Matthew Meloury you are serching for was an Irish seaman or sea captain who sailed to New Zealand and there met (or reputably stole after a brief squirmish with the natives) Mary Mayo. A distant relative of mine has researched this more thoroughly and has reportedly found proof in the form of a ships log book. Although i dont know this researchers name i can find out for you.
