Thomas F. Mickle was born c. 1804 in North Carolina to Jeremiah and Abigail Mickle. He served in the Civil War and was captured @ Bakers Creek, Mississippi 16 May 1863. He was taken to Ft. Delaware Prison were he died of disease on 22 Jul 1863. He is buried @ Finn's Point National Cemetery, most likely in mass grave. His name is affixed to a plaque on the Confederate Monument.
Your Mary A. Mickle on the 1870 Randolph Co census IS the widow of Thomas F Mickle. They had a total of 10 children together. John M Mickle is actually John W Mickle and is the second child of Thomas and Mary.
I have no further information on Jeremiah Mickle; and after 10 years of research ... Mary A. is still a mystery.
