From the 1880 Harpswell, Maine census there is a Frank MITCHEL(Mitchell) and wife Mary A., he around age 30 and she is around age 27, both are American Indian and both born in Maine as were both of their parents. They were basket makers.
My entire family on my Dad's side is from Harpswell and our family descends from American Indians whose last name is also Mitchel/Mitchell many spellings among the Indian's in Maine.
I am wondering if anyone has info on this Frank Mitchel and his family and if they know whether he was Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Mi'kmaq or what nation of people he was from.
