Here are Mitchell notes from findings. I haven't researched further down the lineage yet but have started tracking the Mitchells more closely since I keep noticing them connecting to my Carson line.

Lancaster PA:

James Mitchell was an elder in Rev. John Cuthbertson's Covenantor Presbyterian church. Most of my Carson line was either in this church or in Rev. John Roan's regular Presbyterian church at Paxtang, Lancaster PA.

A James Mitchell and James Carson were executors of Patrick Carson's will in 1764 Lancaster PA, Drumore Twp. James Mitchell is not listed as a son-in-law.

1786 Lancaster PA David Mitchell will mentions daughters Elizabeth, Jean and Jean's son David McCord with husband James McCord, exec James McCord. William Carson in my line married Margaret McCord 1760 Lancaster PA.

David Mitchell Sr married Elizabeth Woods c1750 Lancaster PA. This is the one who moved to Caswell NC

Samuel Woods married Mary Mitchell (don't know date)

Samuel Mitchell, John Hamilton, James Born (1770 Cumberland PA which was formed from Lancaster, Hopewell Twp) testified along with Andrew Hannah and a bunch of Hannah siblings in a theft case against John Graham.

Caswell NC/Orange NC
David Mitchell Sr moved to Orange/Caswell NC c1760s.
Sarah Mitchell m. John Rainey (he bought from my Carson line and was a neighbor in Caswell NC)
David Mitchell Jr.born c1760 m. Ann Anderson c1782 (David had numerous Carson connections in Caswell, and a neighbor)
William Mitchell of Rutherford NC was a bro of David Jr.
Andrew Mitchell is thought to be

William Mitchell bro of David Mitchell Sr is living there later.
David Mitchell is on 1782 tax list near Patterson in-law of my Carson line.

Washington TN/NC 1780s-1790s

James Mitchell (numerous times directly connects to my Carson line on deeds)
Mark Mitchell
Mary Mitchell
Nathaniel Mitchell (1810)
William Mitchell (1812 Blount)
