Looking for information on John Mitchell, his wife Jane Peterson, and his father, Walter Mitchell. John immigrated to the United States in 1824, when he settled on a farm in Indiana; as yet I do not know exactly where. John and Jane are recorded as having ten children, but as yet I can only identify two: Robert Mitchell, the famed Cincinnati furniture manufacturer, and John Mitchell Jr (identified from a reference in a newspaper article concerning one of Robert's children). Robert was born in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, in what is now Northern Ireland, in 1811, establishing John Mitchell Sr's presence there. Another Mitchell cousin, a descendant of Robert's son, Albert, records the name of John Sr's father as Walter. Does anyone have more specific information on John Mitchell Sr and his wife, and/on regarding John's parents?
