Dear Mitchell researchers,

Have you been wondering about Y-DNA (male) testing for genealogical purposes? We have over 200 male Mitchells in our test group. We need more UK and Commonwealth members! On our project webpage, you can find out if someone in your ancestral line has already been tested, if a family that you think might be related to you has been tested, or if someone from a particular geographical area has been tested. You can contact participants to share information. You can also see submitted direct-line pedigrees for many participants.

To learn more about this, please go to our project webpage at http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/mitchell Choose from the options at the top of the screen: Click on "y-Results" to see the DNA results themselves, Click on "Patriarchs" to see listing of families tested, with pedigrees if submitted, Click on "Discussion" for a summary of matches found so far.

If you are a male Mitchell and have already tested your Y-DNA through a different testing service and are not a member of our project, please contact me and I can let you know the options that are available to you. At the very least, your results and pedigree can be posted at our website. You can also freely compare your results to persons in our test group by going to www.ysearch.org. This is a free database that exists to compare DNA results from different testing companies and to provide a way for matches to contact one another to share information. At ysearch, If you just want to search for matches, click on "Search for genetic matches." If you want to upload your matches into the ysearch database so that you can be contacted by matches, click on "create a new user" to get started.

Please contact me with any questions!

Thanks,
Sara Allen
