Searching for letters, journals, and other personal and public documents referencing the life and military service of George Mitchell, who served as a sergeant in Company D of the First Missouri Colored Infantry, later designated the Sixty-second U.S. Colored Infantry. Also known as George Dean, he survived the war and returned to Missouri. He died about 1891. His wife, Susan, survived him. Any and all help appreciated.
