Sorry, I think I was unclear... this is a photo of the Civil War veterans who were ~living~ in Hodgeman, KS at the time the photo was taken (probably around 1910?)

My GGGrandfather was in the Ohio Cavalry - so I know that the group contains folks from multiple different regiments from all over the US - they just happen to have moved to Kansas.

On veterans day, Jetmore (in Hodgeman) used to have a parade and Civil War veterans living in the area were "honored guests" and I suspect that this photo was taken during one of those celebrations. There is a book called "The Saga of Sawlog" that is the story of life in the area. It discusses the Veternas day celebrations, which is how I know that this was quite a big deal at the time :)

Did your James Mitchell live in Kansas in the early 1900's?
