Thanks for your help. There *were* McElroys there in Atchison County but I do not know if they were related to the John McElroy that I am researching. It is just another brickwall. I cannot find any proof that they are related. It could be another odd coincidence. It seems that the John McElroy I am looking for just disappeared off the face of the earth. Thanks for your help....I need all that I can get. brian in springfield mo
