Bob, thank you so much for your reply. I am looking for info on Charles Curless, hoping he can shed some light on my ggfather, James Edward Curliss. James Edward was reportedly born in Chicago IL in either 1851 or 1854. I can find no info on him until his marriage to Nancy Jane Garner about 1881, probably in AR or the OK Territory. The first I have found him in print is a reconstructed 1890 Yell Co. AR census, taken from 1893 tax records. He and his family eventually came to OK where he and Nancy died. I have nothing on his family at all, and am not absolutely sure of his birthdate or birth place. It just seemed to me if James drifted south from IL to AR, MO would be a natural direction to go...hence my interest in any Curliss/Curless in MO.
