Dear Audrey:
Thank you for finding these families of Goodman in Pike County; I think that they can be relatives of David Goodman, born 1807 in Virginia, since they span the same period of time as possible siblings or cousins.
David H. Goodman married the recently widowed Rebecca English circa 1841-1843 in Greene County, Illinois. Rebecca's first husband, Foster Brown, died about six months previous to her marriage to David, in June of the preceding year. One of her three children is a great great grandmother: Elizabeth Brown, born 1837 in Illinois.
I have located the grave of Foster Brown in English township, Jersey County, Illinois, but I have not yet located the graves of either David Goodman or Rebecca.
David was a blacksmith, as were his two sons, and the sons all joined the Union forces during the Civil War.
