Hello ALthough it has been nearly a year since the question of why the name Buffalo Jordan Cemetery called that, the name was taken from Buffalo Twp in which the Cemetery is located. The Jordan is derived from Robert Jordan b 1772 York Co SC d 30 Mar 1813 where the cemetery is now located. His son James Magee Jordan b 1791 York Co SC and Robert Jordan were killed by Sac Indians. see below. Marilyn H Moore mhmoore80@msn.com ST. LOUIS Saturday, April 10. Since our last, we have receiv- ed information from the upper northern settlement of St. Charles, that Mr. Jordan and his son were shot and scalped within a few yards from their residence. It is ascertained that there are several small bodies of Indians in that tract of country between the Illinois and Mississippi, who are constantly watching the settle- ments, and a very numerous col- lection preparing to burst into the country, and may be expect- ed early next month.
