William Ashton MOAD

This is coming together in bits and pieces. The parents of Harvey Burton Moad were - WILLIAM ASHTON MOAD and MARIE (or Mariah) SYNDER.

According to Marie's obit, William and Marie had seven children. One son died in infancy, the other children were -
William John Moad
Harvey Burton Moad
Henry Wilson Moad
Thomas Andrew Moad
Arthur Moad
Amanda Moad (married a Vosburg)

I am not yet sure where William Ashton was born, but he married his wife Marie in Canada in 1857. Marie Synder was born in Prescott, Simco County, Canada (source: obit).

Their sons William, Harvey, Henry, and Thomas were all born in Canada. Arthur was born in New York and most likely also their sister Amanda.

Harvey's obit said he was born in Oxford Station, Ontario, Canada. William and Henry's obits said they were born in Prescott, Canada.

William Ashton Moad moved his family to New York about 1869 and he died there in 1875, leaving his widow and their six children.

His widow Marie left New York and moved to Illinois, there she remarried in 1876 to Alonzo Sargent at Dekalb County. In 1882 Marie and Alonzo moved to Calhoun County, Iowa, where they remained until their deaths.

According to the court house vital records and some of the obits, it appears that William and Marie's children came with their mother. Several of them are at the same cemetery where Marie was buried.

Am anxious to hear from anyone who has a connection to any of this family. I have more (birth/death) dates for the children, and have collected more of the extended families.
