I really have no way of knowing why prior researchers come up with what they do. My guess is that there is more than one Strangeman Modglin.

I have had professional (??) researchers give me garbage that was not any where near the truth. You are right to ask for sources. Some of the information came from tombstones in the area, some came from descendents of Strangeman's daughter Celia McMeans, some came from Church records. It is accepted by many people. Some of my family wanted to make Strangeman a Cherokee. That has no basis other than rumor.
I will not even appologize for the stuff the other researcher came up with, because it may be true. However, I do know that what I sent last time is true and about as verifable as information that old can be.
