I am still looking to find out who Elizabeth b. 1782, NC was before she married George W. Lackey. I have now discovered that Elizabeth married a man named Rose prior to marrying George W. Lackey. I knew that for some time that a Thomas Rose was somehow connected to my Lackey ancestors but thought it was only because his brother-in-law married one of the Lackey girls. I have not got information that gives me reason to believe that Thomas Rose was the Step-son of my ancestor George W. Lackey.
I have discovered that Thomas Rose along with James & Jane Rose was born in Pope County, Illinois, migrated to Washington Co., Ark. abt. 1833 with George & Elizabeth Lackey. Jane married a Carter and moved back to Illinois, James Rose stayed in Washington Co., Ark and Thomas Rose moved to Fannin Co., Texas abt. 1843 at the same time as George W. & Elizabeth Lackey.
I don't know where the researcher that sent me the info that she though Elizabeth was the daughter of Strangemon Modglin got her info unless it was because there was a Strangemon Modglin living next to the Lackey family in 1820, Pope Co., Illinois. I now have to look for a unknown man name of Rose that married a Elizabeth abt. 1811 and a marriage between George & Elizabeth Rose abt. 1818 then maybe I can figure it out. Until then I have to say that Elizabeth was not a Modglin.
