I'm looking for information on the estate of John Modglin who died in Bute County before June of 1768. An abstract of a deed I've found where they sell land from his estate says a Mary Jean is mentioned. I think this Mary could be the wife or widow of Christopher Jean. In 1749 John Moldesley in Northampton County sells Christopher Jean 530 acres for 21 pds 10 shillings. Some of the land they own in Bute is very close to Philip Jean and wife Eizabeth, as John Young and the Pace's were Philip's neighbors and I find them on the Modglin deeds also. I'm attaching a few of these deeds. Could Mary be daughter of John Modglin and wife of Christopher Jean? I would appreciate any help or clues! page 405 JOHN MOLDESLEY of the proince of N.C. to CHRISTOPHER JEAN of the province of N.C. 3 Nov. 1749 21 pounds 10 shillings current money of VA. 530 acares on the north side of Roanoak River, joining the north east side of the Youah pocosin, JOHN WOODS, Long Branch at the mouth of Lick Branch and (don't have the rest) ___ 41 Acct. of Sale of Estate of JOHN MODGLIN(E) (MODGLEY), deed, held 3 June 1768.
