Anne MUIR b. 1836 in Inverkeithing - Allegany, Maryland in 1860s then returned

I am trying to find information on the family of Anne Muir. 1871 census shows her living in Kirkcaldy with her children James b. 1856 in Scotland; Ann born in America; Henry b. 1865 in America; Catherine b. 1869 in America. Also living with them is Elizabeth McMahon who is Anne Muir's neice. Elizabeth McMahon (who married John Cumming) is my great grandmother and I am trying to trace her family. Elizabeth's mother, Martha McMahon married a John Dryburgh and all the children other than Elizabeth have taken his surname with McMahon as a second name. It seems Anne must have returned to Scotland as a widow with her family. Does anyone know anything of this family?
