Buel Blassingame fought in the War of 1812 with the 3rd Reg't(Alston's) of South Carolina Militia. They moved to Shelby Co. from Laurens Dist., SC between 1817 and 1820. Blassingame settled at Big Blue Spring at Siluria. He and his 3 wives are buried behind what was an old cotton mill, accross from Thompson School. His first wife was Jane and they were married in Laurens Dist. about 1810 and had 4 children: (1)Ira Garson, b. Mar 14,1814 Laurens. He married Lucinda Benton on Aug 2, 1845 in Jefferson Co. (2)Ellory, b. 1816 Laurens and married Lucinda E. (3)Rebecca A., b. Apr 1820 Shelby Co.She married Sanford Mostillo & William M. Nabors. (4)son, b. 1805-10 Blassingame's 2nd wife was Elizabeth, b. July 20, 1791 Spartenburg, SC and d. Aug 11, 1866. They had 3 children: (1)Elizabeth, b. aft 1825 and married William McWilliams on Feb 26, 1844 Shelby co. (2)Eveline, b. aft 1825 married James P. Allen on Nov 26, 1843 in Shelby Co. (3) Stephen, b. 1832. His 3rd wife was Mary A. Bandy,b. Apr 21, 1804, married Oct 21, 1863, d. Aug 11, 1866. Blassingame d. Apr 6, 1874.
