Linda, My mother's g-grandmother was Elizabeth D. Nabors, who married Isaac Andrew Lucien Roy. It was years before I found which of 6 Nabors families were her's.
I had to try to find the children of each, to rule them out. It didn't work because I still don't know all the children. Finally my great aunt told me that her aunt had a picture of Howard Nabors, a cousin. I found Howard in the census and his father was Elihu Nabors, killed in the Civil War. Then I learned that Elizabeth had a sister that married Joseph Goodwin. She was Melissa in the census. Using the census, the children's ages matched only Jacob & Elizabeth Nabors as parents. All the Nabors/Neighbors in this area were descendants of Abraham & Rebecca Neighbors, so all are kin. I researching in 1955 while I was in high school, visiting county probate courts, cemeteries, and visiting elderly people and asking a thousand questions.
The cemetery in Siluria is now Alasbaster.
The last main road to the right going south through Alabaster, before I65, goes out to Thompson School. The old school is gone, but I believe they build another one there. The next time I go down I will draw you a map.
Blassingame and his three wives are buried there in addition to the the Benton family.
Blassingame's son Ira married Lucinda Benton Aug 2, 1845.
Tombstones:
Blassingame Nabors Jane,wife of

d. Aug 11, 1866 July 20, 1791
June 6, 1863.

Where do you live? The Historical Society of Shelby Co. located in the old Court House in Columbiana has a family folder on the Nabors.
They also have all the old Shelby Co. records. Shelby Co. records are in great shape and the help is outstanding there.

I mentioned before that I have been trying to identify the children of the Shelby/Jefferson/and Tuscaloosa Nabors families. I have decided to start again with John Neighbors of Tuscaloosa Co.b. 1766
More later.-Benny
