Benny

It has been found that Drucilla Nabors was married to John H. McNeer not James William McNeer as once thought. See the following will.

Will of John H. McNeer--------

I John McNeer satisfied of the certainty of death and uncertainty of life and being of sound mind and memory make this my last will and testament.

1st. I wish all my just debts to be paid.
2nd. I have a certain negro man Lewis which I wish returned to his former owner if they will take said negro man back by my executor paying a reasonable price for said negro. In case of refusal to take said negro back he may have executor to cause said negro to be sold to the highest bidder and the proceeds arising from sale to be applied to the payment of said negro.
3rd. I wish my executor to give to my eldest son, Andy, a bed and frame and in addition to the horse, bridle and saddle I furnish him and as my childern may become of age or leave his to have a horse, bridle and saddle and one hundred forty dollars. Bed and furniture shall be given to them.
4th.The residue of any property, both real and personal, I leave to my beloved wife and there to remain for her use and the raising and educating my young childern so long as she remain my widow.
5th.Should my wife change her situtaion by another union I then wish an equal division between her and my childern.
6th. I constitute my wife Drucill McNeer, my executor of my will this 4th July 1855.
Signed in the presence of John McNeer.

John & Drucilla did not go to Texas as some researchers thought. They are on the 1850 Holmes Co. Ms. census--Drucilla on the 1860 Holmes Co. Ms. She is found on the 1870 & 1880 census also.

I feel there could be a mix up on the names of NcNeer and NcNair. You have the "near sound"--McNeer and the "air sound"--McNair, sounds different to me.

Thanks to Janie McNeer Palmertree for sharing her research.
