While completing some Census paths to track Naces/Nases I found an error on the Genealogy.com 1840 Census Index. I reported the error via their online message web page, but thought Nace researchers should know until it is fixed.
If you conduct a search in Ohio for Nace in the 1840 census Index, you will come up with this (just putting a few here):
Nase, Mathias OH NO COUNTY LISTED W ROCKHILL TWP 306 1840
Nase, Michael OH NO COUNTY LISTED W ROCKHILL TWP 310 1840
Nase, Michael OH NO COUNTY LISTED W ROCKHILL TWP 312 1840
Nase, Thomas OH NO COUNTY LISTED W ROCKHILL TWP 311 1840
Notice that the "NO COUNTY LISTED" is the key to this problem. The reason for that is that these Nase are located in the 1840 BUCKS COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA Census and not Ohio. I verified this by looking at the actual Census Image.
So, you happen to be missing some Nases/Naces in 1840 and thought they were in Ohio, you may want to look in Bucks County, PA.
