John Benjamin Nace, Pennsylvania

My grandfathers name was John Benjamin Nace who married Emma Graver. My grandmother says that Bens family came from Hamburg, Germany. Grandpa Ben would have been born somewhere in the late 1840's to mid 1850's because my grandfather, his son Quincy Llewallyn Nace, was born in 1870 in Pennsylvania. I also know that they had a daughter named Carrie. Don't know when she born though or who she married. Anyway, back to Ben.
He was the captain of the ship "The Morning Star" for about 25 years.
There is a story that my grandma told me:
When Quincy was about 10 years old, he got into trouble by his mother, Emma who was a school teacher, supposedly for something that he didn't do. He ran away and stowed away on a ship that he thought belonged to his dad, Ben. It turned out to be the wrong ship and there was no way for Quincy to return home. He was then bound to that ship until it came back to the states which was years later. Upon returning home, Quincy found that his mother, Emma, had grieved herself to death.
I would love to know if anybody has any info on Ben Nace. We are at a brick wall with him.
Thank you,
Kari Brantley
