Craig, In doing research on the Nagle/Nogle/Naugle family of Luzerne Co. I found the following family in the 1850 Census for Fairmount Township, Luzerne Co.:

Peter Nagle 1802 Farmer
Louisa 1812 New Jersey
MINER 1832 Laborer
William F. 1833 Farmer
Frederick D/ 1836
Mary A. 1838
Isabella M. 1841
Sarah Elizabeth 1845
A.C. 1850 (The birth dates are calculated based upon age and therefore approximate.)

Miner Nagle/Nogle (and in the 1880s "Naugle") joined the 187th Regiment, Company G and is listed on their roster directly above William Nagle. I assumed that William was Miner's younger brother! Peter was born in PA and lived in Luzerne Co through 1860. I think (but cannot prove)Peter Nagle(in 1870s "Naugle")is the son of Peter and Anna Maria Nagle of Salisbury Township, Northampton Co., PA.

Does your research indicate that Mary A. Naugle was married to Josiah Ruggles?

If you know any reasons for the Nagle/Nogle/Naugle name changes I would be interested in hearing about it. Ed Kirsten, EdwrdKr@aol.com
