You may do better attempting to get this information from U.S. Department of Air Force sources.

Another thought. There is a museum (with a supporting organization) in the Savannah, Georgia area devoted to preserving the story of the USAF 8th Air Force. The name I recall is "The Fighting 8th". They surely have a web site.
If not, the Savannah Chamber of Commerce does have one and
they could put you in touch with the right folks.

Sometimes DoD and DoAF personnel get a bit stuffy about inquiries from people who are not blood relatives.
