Hello, I am looking for information on a group of Nagys that came to the US from a vilage called Nagybereg in 1909. My ancestry; Kalman & Borbola Nagy (great-great-grandparents) Roza Nagy & ? Tenyi (great-grandparents) Malvyna Nagy & Frank Gancsos (grandparents) Melvyn Gancsos & Anne Snopkoski Mark Gancsos As I understand it though what little we know and from what I could find on ellisisland.org, Roza and Kalman came over in 1907 from Nagybereg. Between then and 1909 they went back to Hungary. In 1909, Borbola Nagy came to Union City, Connecticut from Nagybereg; she was 36 years old at the time. With her were her children Roza (19), Vilma (17), Erzsebet (13), and Arpad (10). Kalman Nagy came back to the US in 1914; he was 47 at the time. Borbola left behind a sister in 1909 in Nagybereg, her sister's married name was Josefine Szilagyi. From what I gather, Nagybereg (or Bereg Nagy, Beregnagy) is now a part of the Ukraine, it is somewhere in the Transcarpathians. I believe the Ukrainian name is Berehi. If anyone has any other information, I would really appreciate it! Thanks, Mark Notify Administrator about this message?
