Below are two posted genealogies for two different Elijah Easons, one from Johnston Co NC and the other with ties to the state of GA originating in NC. The second one looks like it might have been the family of the Elijah Eason in GA who sold land to William Pitman in 1822 in Nash Co NC: that one was George1 Eason from NC; William2 Eason (Geo1) who mar. Sally Mattox, Wm d. in GA; and, Elijah3 Eason (Wm2, Geo1) of GA. (For the second Elijah Eason, GA) From Huxford's "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia, Vol. 1", page 76: William Eason, one of the first settlers of Tattnall County, GA and ancestor of many Wiregrass Georgians, was born in North Carolina May 22, 1771, a son of George Eason, R. S. The family moved to South Carolina in William's boyhood and it seems he grew up there. He was married in 1795 in Barnwell District, SC to Sarah Mattox, born December 3, 1777, in South Carolina, daughter of Michael McKenzie Mattox, R. S. He is credited with building the first Methodist Church building in Tattnall County - Mount Carmel Church. The date has been placed at 1803, which was two years before the county was fully organized. He was a very devout member of the Methodist Church, as was his wife, and they were prominent in its affairs in their county until their deaths. Mr. Eason was a local Methodist preacher, and was first licensed in South Carolina. All of his children became faithful members of the Methodist Church. William Eason served in the War of 1812 as a private under Capt. E. P. Wester at Fort Perry on the Altamaha River in Tattnall County from January 18, 1814 to March 10, 1814. This was a detachment of Georgia militia. He died October 1, 1831. His wife lived 20 years longer and died May 16, 1859. She spent her last years with her son, Michael M. Eason. She and her husband are buried on their old home place four or five miles southeast of Reidsville. He left a will which named Michael M. Mattox and Daniel Sikes as executors. It was probated in 1832. A division of the slaves of the estate was made September 5, 1836, between the following sole heirs and legatees of the testator: William Tippins (in right of his wife); Elijah H. Mattox (in right of his wife); Abraham D. Eason; William M. Eason; Michael M. Eason; and Dr. Daniel Sikes (in right of his wife). http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rblalock&id=I01914 Census References: 1810, Tattnall Co. GA jury list; 1820, 1830, Tattnall Co., GA; 1840, 1850, Tattnall Co., GA, widow only. *****THERE IS MORE ON THIS EASON LINE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE.***** (For the first Elijah Eason, NC) Elijah Eason was born in 1760. He died before 1845 in Union Co., NC. 1820 Johnston County, North Carolina Census Elijah Eason 2 males between 10 and 16 years of age 1 male between 16 and 18 years of age 2 males between 16 and 26 years of age 1 male of 45 and older 1 female between 10 and 16 years of age 1 female between 16 and 26 years of age 1 female of 45 and older [Notice that there is a overlap of ages in the male listing 16 to 18 and 16 to 26. It is known that many census takers listed individuals twice because of this. I am assuming that this is the case here. Ken Eason][This would mean that Elijah and Nelly had 4 sons and 2 daughters.
