Andrea,

Did you make it to Gauersheim? I went there in '97, and looked around the cemetery for any evidence of a Neubecker, but the closest I saw was a Pfannebeker. It is a small town, and it was a Sunday, so everything was closed except for a pub and a winery, so I was only able to talk to a few people, and they had never heard of a Nebeker living there.
