hi Chris,
if you send for a death certificate it should have the number of years the person has lived in N Z (if known)
and that could give you a time frame to look for your info.
The electoral rolls are usually available in microfiche form in most research places in N Z, if you ask in this post someone may do a electoral roll lookup for you.cant help you more myself sorry.
